Dear SDDS Parents,
Before the school dismisses for Spring Break we would like to provide you with an update based on the latest information on the impact coronavirus is having on our school. The situation is constantly changing and we are doing our absolute best to stay on top of the most recent and relevant information. As of right now there are no reported cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) impacting any of our staff, students or families. The situation and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Warning Level Advisory can change quickly. Currently, the CDC recommends avoiding all non-essential travel to China, Iran, South Korea, Italy and several other countries within Europe and has placed restrictions on re-entry to the United States for anyone traveling from those countries. We encourage families to follow CDC guidelines regarding travel and to avoid visiting these countries over Spring Break. Due to the serious nature of this situation we are also asking that families planning to travel via airplane to any destination, domestic or international, over Spring Break let SDDS know by completing this form and plan to self-quarantine for 14 days after returning to the United States, per the CDC’s guidelines. SDDS is closely monitoring reports of school closures locally and across the country. We generally follow AISD’s lead, so we will be closely following their decisions on school operations after Spring Break. The board is prepared to call an emergency meeting to decide on next steps and send out communications to all impacted families and staff. Closing the school for any period of time is a big decision we do not take lightly. As a child care provider we understand the gap closing SDDS may cause for many families. Please rest assured, if it comes down to this, we will make the decision based on what is in the best interest of our students, families and staff. Although this is a challenging time, we hope everyone has a great spring break! We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. Sincerely, The Rev. Dr. Chuck Treadwell, Rector, St. David’s Episcopal Church
